The registration periods for exams at the Department of Mathematics are
- Mid-November to Mid-December in the winter semester
- 1st to 30th June in the summer semester
You registrate for exams and study achievements via the electronic campus management system TUCaN.

Please note: If you register for an exam or study achievement of a module which spans more than one semester, it may be necessary to first switch to the semester in which the module was registered.
For many lecture modules, you must also register for the coursework of the relevant module in addition to the subject examination if the module includes coursework. When registering in TUCaN, you can see which modules include coursework in addition to the subject examination.
In general, it is necessary to register for coursework even if the lecturer does not check the coursework (usually x percent of your homework) separately.
Important: In contrast to examinations, study achievements can only be completed in the semester in which the course takes place.
For oral exams please register for the exam during the exam registration period via TUCaN.
Please contact the examiners by the end of the lecture period to find out how and when the examination dates are set.
For regular oral exams you can arrange the exam dates directly with your examiner. They will store the date in TUCaN for you. Please contact the examiner directly for an appointment.
Important: All oral exams must be taken by the start of the lectures in the new semester. If an appointment for an examination registered in TUCaN is not made with the examiner by the deadline and registered in TUCaN, you will be deregistered by the Mathematics Office at the end of the semester (31 March/30 September). You can only re-register in the following semester during the examination registration periods.
General information concerning de-registration
In general, a de-registration from exams is possible up to eight days prior to the exam day.
You can de-register from written exams online via TUCaN.
For oral exams please refer to your own study office. If you do not de-register on time and do not take the exam, the exam will be graded as failed.
If you de-register from an oral exam, please inform also always your examiner.
Resignation due to illness
If you cannot take your exam due to illness, please only inform your own study office.
