Places to study

By yourself or in a group

We would like you to be able to study for your exams in a productive atmosphere. Therefore the faculty and the university offer you multiple workplaces. You can decide yourself whether you would like to peacefully study by yourself or in a group with other students.

The LZM offers some group work places, as well as a reference collection of textbooks and old exams. In addition, research assistants or student assistants are available to answer questions during office hours.

Open study rooms

In the Department of Mathematics building there are five open study rooms which can be used by groups and individuals for studying and working throughout the year. Many consultation hours are also held here.

Closed study rooms

The closed study rooms offer works spaces for students in higher semesters who want to write their bachelor, diploma, master or state exam theses, but also for those who want to prepare for exams in peace and quiet.

Consultation hours of the tutors

For almost every course at our department, weekly (or biweekly) consultation hours are offered by the student tutors. There, questions about the current exercise or general problems in the course can be clarified.

The office hours of the tutors during the semester are announced at the beginning of the semester and can be viewed in the student council's office hours tool.

Office hours of assistants and lecturers

In addition to the tutors, the research assistants responsible for the course and the lecturers themselves also offer a consultation hour, usually weekly. These can be attended in order to clarify questions that may be more advanced or that the tutor was unable to clarify.

Consultation hours in the lecture free periods

In many courses, consultation hours are also offered by the trainers in the lecture free period in the weeks before the corresponding exam. Here you have the opportunity to clarify questions that might not have been answered during the semester.
