At the beginning of the new semester, we would like to draw your attention to some important information.

We ask you to read the message thoroughly!

1. Office hours

The office hours are currently divided into online and presence hours. The office hours take place on Wednesdays from 10 am to 12 pm. The online consultation hour can be attended on Thursdays from 10 to 11 am. The exam registration period runs from 15 November to 15 December 2022. More information here

2. Master's minor in Economics

Students in the Master's with a minor in Economics can take all modules of the Bachelor's minor that have not yet been taken. Students who choose Economics as a Master's minor subject from the winter semester 2021/22 onwards must bring in at least one module from the 6-CP catalogue. All information here

At the beginning of the new semester, we would like to draw your attention to some important information.

1. Courses

We are pleased to announce that with the summer semester 2022 all courses will be held in presence again. There may be digital offerings in addition to or as part of the face-to-face courses.

2. Office for Student Affairs

The Office of Student Affairs will continue to offer online consultation hours via Zoom for some time. We will inform you as soon as a face-to-face course can be offered again. You can find our office hours at our website.

3. Study counselling

The study coordinator, Ms Seeberg, will once again offer a face-to-face consultation on Thursdays from 2 to 4 pm. The zoom consultation hour on Mondays will remain. Please visit our website for information on office hours and changes.

4. Exam registration

The exam registration period this semester is from 1 June to 30 June. Please register for all exams as early as possible so that we can react to any problems during the current registration period.

Error registrations received by us after 30/06/2021, 23:59 will not be considered.

PLEASE NOTE:

a) In the case of compulsory and core modules, be sure to register for the course credit in addition to the subject examination.

b) In the case of oral examinations, make sure you arrange an examination date in good time.

5. Elective orientation days (WOrT)

The WOrT will take place this year on 9 May from 15:30-17:30 and on 12 May from 14:00-16:00. All students in the fourth semester are invited, but also interested students in the second semester. You will find all further information in good time at https://www.mathematik.tu-darmstadt.de/wort

6. Course evaluation

The courses will be evaluated again this semester. You will be informed in good time via the website and by your lecturers. We look forward to active participation – this is the only way to improve teaching in the department.

7. Module activation

The forms for module activation are now permanently open.

8. Compulsory doctoral certificate

As of the summer semester 2022, the doctoral certificate requirement will apply again. This means that a doctor's certificate must always be submitted for cancellations less than 8 days before the examination date. Certificates no longer have to be submitted in paper form. 9. Third exam attempts

As of the summer semester 2022, third exam attempts will no longer be cancelled, nor will supplementary oral examinations.

10. Two years of no achievements

The semester counter for Two Years of No Achievements will be set to zero at the beginning of the summer semester.

11. Master's degree with reservation

If you have earned 160 CP in the Bachelor's programme and apply for the Master's programme by the deadline (15 March/15 September), you will be enrolled in the Master's programme conditionally. The reservation will be lifted after one semester. If you have not completed your Bachelor's degree by then, you will be exmatriculated from the Master's programme again. If you have any questions, please contact the study coordinator.

12. English for Mathematicians

In the summer semester 2022, the Language Centre will again offer the course “English for Mathematicians”. You must take this course if you wish to obtain the bilingual certificate. Course registration runs from 1 to 12 April.

This message contains important information about examinations. Please read the following information thoroughly.

1. Examination Registration Period

You can register for examinations from 15 November to up to and including 15 December 2021.

2. Problems with exam registrations

Please register for all examinations as early as possible so that we can react to any problems during the current registration period. Error messages received by us after the end of the exam registration period will not be considered.

PLEASE NOTE:

a) in the case of lecture modules, register for the study achievement in addition to the examination, if applicable.

b) in the case of oral examinations, to arrange an examination date in good time. Please arrange an appointment with your examiner and apply for the corresponding registration form at the Office of Student Affairs.

c) When cancelling oral examinations, please ALWAYS inform your examiner!

3. Module activations

Requests for module activations are still possible until Monday, 15 November. Please check whether you can register for all desired courses. Requests received after the deadline will not be considered.

4. Room allocation for examinations at the Department of Mathematics

The room allocation for the examinations in winter semester 2021/22 can be found here in good time.

5. Unnecessary module registrations

In TUCaN you can check which modules you are registered for under “my modules”. If you have registered for a module in which you do not wish to take an examination and can no longer deregister independently, please contact the Office of Student Affairs via the contact form .

6. Evaluation period in winter semester 2021/22

Lectures and exercises will be evaluated in the week of 6.12.-17.12.2021. The evaluations will take place online as in the last semester. We look forward to active participation and your feedback – the evaluation is a good opportunity for you to show us possibilities for improvement.

7. Corona

Please check the TU Darmstadt website regularly for the latest Corona rules!

Relevant for you: No doctor's certificate required when withdrawing from exams for health reasons before the exam; possibility to cancel failed third attempts; enrolment in the Master's programme with the provision of 160 CP. ATTENTION: This regulation will probably only still apply in this semester!

We are aware that this message is quite long. Nevertheless we ask you to read it carefully since it contains information that support you with your studies.

1. Studying during the Covid-19 pandemic

Corona will also accompany us in the coming summer semester 2021. Please continue to check the TU Darmstadt website regularly for the latest Corona rules!

Relevant for you: The medical certificate requirement for cancellations of exams for health reasons before the exam is still suspended; you still have the possibility to cancel failed third attempts in this examination phase; provisional enrolment in the Master's programme is still possible with 160 CP.

At this point, we would like to point out once again that medical masks (OP masks, FFP2, KN95, N95) must be worn in all university buildings.

3. Student Survey

This year, the student survey will again be organised by the Hochschuldidaktische Arbeitsstelle (HDA). You will receive information about this in the due time. Again, our appeal: Please participate in large numbers: The survey is a very good opportunity for you to change and improve the study conditions at TU Darmstadt in the long term.

4. Homepage

On our homepage, you can find important information about your studies. We assume that you are familiar with the information on our web pages and especially with the part Dates and deadlines .

As you know, we completely renewed the website last summer. If you are a regular user and have any comments or suggestions for improvement, we would be happy to hear from you. Just send an email to .

5. Ticket system and contact form on the homepage

The Office for Student Affairs Mathematics has switched to a ticket system as of 15 March. We therefore ask you to contact us from now on via the contact form on the home page of the Office for Student Affairs .

The new ticket system makes the work in the Office for Student Affairs much easier by automatically forwarding your enquiries to your correct contact person. This ensures that your request can be dealt with promptly and in a targeted manner.

6. Activation of elective modules

To request activation of the elective modules, please use the correct web form for you. Requesting the activation is still possible until 15 May.

7. Examination plans

Examination plans only have to be submitted in exceptional cases. If you have any questions about this, please contact the .

8. Examination registration

This semester's exam registration period is from 1 June to 30 June. Please register for all examinations as early as possible so that we can react to any problems during the current registration period.

9. Compulsory Elective course orientation days 2021

Just like last year, the compulsory elective course orientation days will take place digitally in May. The “WOrT” are aimed in particular at fourth-semester Bachelor's students. However, students in the second semester who are already interested in compulsory elective courses should also take advantage of this opportunity for information.

On 20 May from 2 p.m., the general lecture on study planning and the respective lectures of the AGs on their specialisations will be broadcast via Zoom. The “AG” Fair will take place on 27 May. Here you can use Zoom meetings to visit the AGs that are of interest to you. Professors, research assistants and students will be available to provide information about the specialisations. Support in creating a voluntary examination plan will be offered in another meeting.

10. English for Mathematicians

In the summer semester 2021, the Language Centre will again offer the course “English for Mathematicians”. You must take this course if you wish to obtain the bilingual certificate. Course registration runs from 1 to 14 April. There are two courses in the semester, i.e. a and b. These run from 22.04. to 15.07.21 on Thursdays at 15:20 and at 17:10.

11. Lecture “Topology”

We are currently determining whether a “Topology” course will take place again in the summer semester 2021. Should this be the case, we will inform you about it on our homepage.

12. Minor Economics

The Department of Economics has changed the examination regulations for the winter semester 2020/21. Of course, this change also affects us at the Department of Mathematics, especially students in the Bachelor's programme. If you are affected by the changes through your field of study or minor subject, please contact the study coordinator Mrs Seeberg, if you have not already done so. Mrs Seeberg can be reached by , or on Mondays during office hours from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. via Zoom (access data on the homepage ).

13. RMU-Study

This semester, you again have the opportunity to enrol for the RMU programme and thus also attend events at JGU Mainz as well as at Goethe University in Frankfurt. You can find recommended events, especially in the Master's area, as well as further information and links on our homepage .
