The student union
What is that?

The student union (Fachschaft) is actually the entirety of all students in a department. In practice, however, the mathematics student union usually refers to a group of mathematics students who are actively involved in student affairs at the Department of Mathematics. So you have the opportunity to drop in, have a look, find out more or get creative and get involved.

We are open to everyone and organise our work on a grassroots democratic basis. To this end, a student council meeting is held once a week during the semester.

We also organise leisure activities. We organisegame nights and music evenings , an annual ballnight excursions (seminars ) with and without student union work.

The student union room S2|15 – 347/348 with cosy sofas, radio, tea maker, coffee machine and much more is open around the clock and invites all maths students to drop by from time to time and take a break from studying with a cup of tea or coffee.

If you would like to take an active part in the life of the Maths Department, you are welcome to attend a Student Council meeting! There will also be one during Orientation week and the old folks will give you a warm welcome and answer any questions you may have about the Student Council and beyond.
