Mentoring Hessen for female postdocs

Mentoring Hessen is a Hessian program for the career advancement of women regardless of their level of qualification. The program's funding alliance consists of all 11 Hessian universities, many companies and the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art.

For post-doctoral students, habilitation candidates and junior professors (etc.) the ProAcademia and ProProfessur support lines are possible programmes, which one fits depends on the individual professional goals.

Goals:

  • To promote career development: Orientation and decision making in view of multi-optional career paths
  • Preparation for career entry, especially STEM (empowerment)
  • Increase the proportion of women in attractive specialist and management positions in science and business
  • Promotion of equality-oriented scientific and corporate cultures
ProAcademia ProProfessur
This programme is concerned with promotion on the career path into science or non-university research. The target group is thus female doctoral students and early post-doctoral students who have already chosen the research field as their career path. Accordingly, the mentors are professors from science and research. This programme deals with the transition to a professorship (university or HAW professorship). The target group is thus advanced post-doctoral students, habilitation candidates and junior professors (etc.). Accordingly, the mentors are professors from science and research.

Costs:

The ProAcademia program does not initially incur any costs, but the workshops/trainings offered in the program cost

  • about 35€ for a 1-day training
  • and about 60€ for a 2-day training (if necessary plus overnight stay and travel).

The trainings take place all over Hesse, so they should be accessible with the semester ticket or the ticket for state employees. Within the scope of the possibilities of the women's advancement funds, the costs incurred are also eligible for funding upon application.

For the ProProfessur programme, a cost contribution of approximately 350€ is charged.
