Classifying objects is a popular pastime in research. No matter whether it is about butterflies, elementary particles or something else. In my case, groups (the algebraic structure) are at the core of my research. In my talk, I will take you on a guide tour through a collection of “small groups” and how it was created. “Small” here simply means that the groups are classified based on and ordered by their cardinality (as opposed to other collections that focus on other properties). We will see how to find beautiful specimens; how to make sure the collection is complete; and what you can do with such a collection.
