Traces theorems

In this colloquium, I will show how to define traces of Sobolev functions via integration by parts formulae. Most of the results are well-known and widely used in partial differential equations, the proofs of which can be reduced to three lines admitting Gauss’ theorem. The results can be extended to vector fields in domains with Lipschitz boundary.
