This workshop surveys six-functor formalisms from their classical origins in topology and étale co-homology to recent abstract formulations. We will review the necessary (∞, 1)-categorical background before studying the constructions of Liu–Zheng and Mann, with a focus on their technical foundations.
We then review the language of (∞, 2)-categories and cover the recent independent construction by Cnossen, Lenz, and Linskens.
