International Research Training Group 1529 - Mathematical Fluid Dynamics

Several Open Doctoral and Postdoctoral Positions 2016

The International Research Training Group (IRTG 1529) (Internationales Graduiertenkolleg) Mathematical Fluid Dynamics funded by DFG and JSPS and associated with the Technische Universität Darmstadt, the Waseda University in Tokyo, and the University of Tokyo offers

12 Doctoral Positions or Scholarships and
2 Postdoctoral Positions or Scholarships

at TU Darmstadt for research projects concerned with fundamental mathematical questions of Fluid Dynamics. Research focuses on analytical, stochastic, geometric and optimization as well as on aerodynamical aspects of Fluid Dynamics.

Presently there are several open positions available

Please address your application to the coordinator of the IRTG: Prof. Dr. M. Hieber, TU Darmstadt, Fachbereich Mathematik, Schlossgartenstr. 7, D-64289 Darmstadt, Germany.

Positions or Fellowships are awarded for up to 3 years. Research stays in Tokyo will be funded additionally. Childcare allowance can be granted if applicable.

Applicants are asked to submit a curriculum vitae, copies of certifications of academic qualifications held, a list of publications (if available) and a letter of recommendation. Successful applicants hold a master degree (or a German Diplom degree) in Mathematics with a strong background in one of the fields of Analysis, Stochastics, Geometry or Optimization or a degree in Aerodynamics or a Ph.D. in one of the above fields, respectively. A good command of the English language, mobility, and a strong interest in mathematical fluid dynamics are necessary prerequisites.

The IRTG 1529 aims at increasing the proportion of female staff and is proactive in inviting women to apply. This policy applies also to disabled persons.
